The problem is that all these undefined names are provided by
arch/x86/platform/efi/efi-bgrt.c - which is obviously not available
to the ia64 build.
It doesn't seem useful to provide the BGRT support for Itanium
(many systems are headless and have no graphics at all). So
just don't let users configure this driver on non-X86 machines.

Commit ac3ebafa81af76d6 "ACPI / idle: remove usage of the statedata"
changed the percpu processor cstate to a unified cstate in ACPI idle.
That caused all our NHM boxes to boot hang or panic.
In fact, the ACPI idle is based on the assumption of difference percpu
cstate structures that are necessary for the implementation to work
cprrectly. A unique acpi_processor_cx is not sifficient by far.
This patch is just a quick fix re-introducing the percpu cstates.
If someone really wants to unify the ACPI cstates, please make sure
that the whole software infrastructure is changed and take hardware
as well as many different kinds of BIOS settings into account.

ACPI / I2C: Use parent's ACPI_HANDLE() in acpi_i2c_register_devices()
The ACPI handle of struct i2c_adapter's dev member should not be
set, because this causes that struct i2c_adapter to be associated
with the ACPI device node corresponding to its parent as the
second "physical_device", which is incorrect (this happens during
the registration of struct i2c_adapter). Consequently,
acpi_i2c_register_devices() should use the ACPI handle of the
parent of the struct i2c_adapter it is called for rather than the
struct i2c_adapter's ACPI handle (which should be NULL).
Make that happen and modify the i2c-designware-platdrv driver,
which currently is the only driver for ACPI-enumerated I2C
controller chips, not to set the ACPI handle for the
struct i2c_adapter it creates.

In order to keep cpufreq support for all big LITTLE platforms simple/generic,
this patch tries to add a generic cpufreq driver layer for all big LITTLE
platforms.
The driver is divided into two parts:
- Core driver: Generic and shared across all big LITTLE SoC's
- Glue drivers: Per platform drivers providing ops to the core driver
This patch adds in a generic glue driver which would extract information from
Device Tree.
Future SoC's can either reuse the DT glue or write their own depending on the
need.

cpufreq: Notify all policy->cpus in cpufreq_notify_transition()
policy->cpus contains all online cpus that have single shared clock line. And
their frequencies are always updated together.
Many SMP system's cpufreq drivers take care of this in individual drivers but
the best place for this code is in cpufreq core.
This patch modifies cpufreq_notify_transition() to notify frequency change for
all cpus in policy->cpus and hence updates all users of this API.

cpufreq: cpufreq-cpu0: Call CPUFREQ_POSTCHANGE notifier for failure cases too
Currently we are simply returning from target() if we encounter some error after
broadcasting CPUFREQ_PRECHANGE notifier. Which looks to be wrong as others might
depend on POSTCHANGE notifier for their functioning.
So, better broadcast CPUFREQ_POSTCHANGE notifier for these failure cases too,
but with old frequency.

cpufreq: cpufreq-cpu0: No need to check cpu number in init()
It is not possible for init() to be called for any cpu other than cpu0. During
bootup whatever cpu is used to boot system will be assigned as cpu0. And later
on policy->cpu can only change if we hotunplug all cpus first and then hotplug
them back in different order, which isn't possible (system requires atleast one
cpu to be up always :)).
Though I can see one situation where policy->cpu can be different then zero.
- Hot-unplug cpu 0.
- rmmod cpufreq-cpu0 module
- insmod it back
- hotplug cpu 0 again.
Here, policy->cpu would be different. But the driver doesn't have any dependency
on cpu0 as such. We don't mind which cpu of a system is policy->cpu and so this
check is just not required.
Remove it.

PM / QoS: Avoid possible deadlock related to sysfs access
Commit b81ea1b (PM / QoS: Fix concurrency issues and memory leaks in
device PM QoS) put calls to pm_qos_sysfs_add_latency(),
pm_qos_sysfs_add_flags(), pm_qos_sysfs_remove_latency(), and
pm_qos_sysfs_remove_flags() under dev_pm_qos_mtx, which was a
mistake, because it may lead to deadlocks in some situations.
For example, if pm_qos_remote_wakeup_store() is run in parallel
with dev_pm_qos_constraints_destroy(), they may deadlock in the
following way:

Remove the call to dev_pm_qos_hide_flags(), added by commit 6e30d7cb
"usb: Add driver/usb/core/(port.c,hub.h) files", from
usb_port_device_release(), because (1) it is completely unnecessary
(the flags have been removed already by the PM core during the
unregistration of the device object) and (2) it triggers a NULL
pointer dereference in sysfs_find_dirent() (dev->kobj.sd is NULL at
this point).

the load against down_threshold. There is no need to subtract 10 points
from down_threshold.

cpufreq: governors: Calculate iowait time only when necessary
Currently we always calculate the CPU iowait time and add it to idle time.
If we are in ondemand and we use io_is_busy, we re-calculate iowait time
and we subtract it from idle time.
With this patch iowait time is calculated only when necessary avoiding
the double call to get_cpu_iowait_time_us. We use a parameter in
function get_cpu_idle_time to distinguish when the iowait time will be
added to idle time or not, without the need of keeping the prev_io_wait.

This causes additional unnecessary interrupts on all cpus when the load is
recently evaluated by any other cpu. i.e. When load is recently evaluated by cpu
x, we don't really need any other cpu to evaluate this load again for the next
sampling_rate time.
Some sort of code is present to avoid that but we are still getting timer
interrupts for all cpus. A good way of avoiding this would be to modify delays
for all cpus (policy->cpus) whenever any cpu has evaluated load.
This patch does this change and some related code cleanup.

cpufreq: ondemand: Don't update sample_type if we don't evaluate load again
Because we have per cpu timer now, we check if we need to evaluate load again or
not (In case it is recently evaluated). Here the 2nd cpu which got timer
interrupt updates core_dbs_info->sample_type irrespective of load evaluation is
required or not. Which is wrong as the first cpu is dependent on this variable
set to an older value.
Moreover it would be best in this case to schedule 2nd cpu's timer to
sampling_rate instead of freq_lo or hi as that must be managed by the other cpu.
In case the other cpu idles in between then also we wouldn't loose much power.

cpufreq: governor: Set MIN_LATENCY_MULTIPLIER to 20
Currently MIN_LATENCY_MULTIPLIER is set defined as 100 and so on a system with
transition latency of 1 ms, the minimum sampling time comes to be around 100 ms.
That is quite big if you want to get better performance for your system.
Redefine MIN_LATENCY_MULTIPLIER to 20 so that we can support 20ms sampling rate
for such platforms.

If we have a multi-package system, where we have multiple instances
of struct policy (per package), we can't have multiple instances of
same governor. i.e. We can't have multiple instances of ondemand
governor for multiple packages.
Governors directory in sysfs is created at /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/
governor-name/. Which again reflects that there can be only one
instance of a governor_type in the system.
This is a bottleneck for multicluster system, where we want different
packages to use same governor type, but with different tunables.
This patch uses the infrastructure provided by earlier patch and
implements init/exit routines for ondemand and conservative
governors.

Now use this flag to check at init time if one state will need
the broadcast timer and, in this case, setup the broadcast timer
framework. That prevents multiple code duplication in the drivers.

timer: move enum definition out of ifdef section
The next patch will setup automatically the broadcast timer for
the different cpuidle driver when one idle state stops its timer.
This will be part of the generic code.
But some ARM boards, like s3c64xx, uses cpuidle but without the
CONFIG_GENERIC_CLOCKEVENTS_BUILD set. Hence the cpuidle framework
will be compiled with the code supposed to be generic, that is
with clockevents_notify and the different enum.
Also the function clockevents_notify is a noop macro, this is fine
except the usual code is:
int cpu = smp_processor_id();
clockevents_notify(CLOCK_EVT_NOTIFY_BROADCAST_ON, &cpu);
and that raises a warning for the variable cpu which is not used.
Move the clock_event_nofitiers enum definition out of the
CONFIG_GENERIC_CLOCKEVENTS_BUILD section to prevent a compilation
error when these are used in the code.
Change the clockevents_notify macro to a static inline noop function
to prevent a compilation warning.

Convert all uses of devm_request_and_ioremap() to the newly introduced
devm_ioremap_resource() which provides more consistent error handling.
devm_ioremap_resource() provides its own error messages so all explicit
error messages can be removed from the failure code paths.

When the CPU_IDLE and the ARCH_KIRKWOOD options are set it is
pointless to define a new option CPU_IDLE_KIRKWOOD because it
is redundant.
The Makefile drivers directory contains a condition to compile
the cpuidle drivers:
obj-$(CONFIG_CPU_IDLE) += cpuidle/
Hence, if CPU_IDLE is not set we won't enter this directory.
This patch removes the useless Kconfig option and replaces the
condition in the Makefile by CONFIG_ARCH_KIRKWOOD.

cpuidle : handle clockevent notify from the cpuidle framework
When a cpu enters a deep idle state, the local timers are stopped and
the time framework falls back to the timer device used as a broadcast
timer.
The different cpuidle drivers are calling clockevents_notify ENTER/EXIT
when the idle state stops the local timer.
Add a new flag CPUIDLE_FLAG_TIMER_STOP which can be set by the cpuidle
drivers. If the flag is set, the cpuidle core code takes care of the
notification on behalf of the driver to avoid pointless code duplication.

PCI / ACPI: Don't query OSC support with all possible controls
Found problem on system that firmware that could handle pci aer.
Firmware get error reporting after pci injecting error, before os boots.
But after os boots, firmware can not get report anymore, even pci=noaer
is passed.
Root cause: BIOS _OSC has problem with query bit checking.
It turns out that BIOS vendor is copying example code from ACPI Spec.
In ACPI Spec 5.0, page 290:

When Query flag is set, And(CDW1,1) will be 1, Not(1) will return 0xfffffffe.
So it will get into code path that should be for control set only.
BIOS acpi code should be changed to "If (LEqual(And(CDW1,1), 0)))"
Current kernel code is using _OSC query to notify firmware about support
from OS and then use _OSC to set control bits.
During query support, current code is using all possible controls.
So will execute code that should be only for control set stage.
That will have problem when pci=noaer or aer firmware_first is used.
As firmware have that control set for os aer already in query support stage,
but later will not os aer handling.
We should avoid passing all possible controls, just use osc_control_set
instead.
That should workaround BIOS bugs with affected systems on the field
as more bios vendors are copying sample code from ACPI spec.

On some hardware configurations we have got the request line with the offset.
The patch introduces convert_slave_id() helper for that cases. The request line
base is came from the driver data provided by the platform_device_id table.

dmaengine: dw_dma: fix endianess for DT xlate function
As reported by Wu Fengguang's build robot tracking sparse warnings, the
dma_spec arguments in the dw_dma_xlate are already byte swapped on
little-endian platforms and must not get swapped again. This code is
currently not used anywhere, but will be used in Linux 3.10 when the
ARM SPEAr platform starts using the generic DMA DT binding.
The Adam Belay's e-mail address in MAINTAINERS under PNP SUPPORT
is not valid any more and I started to maintain that code in the
meantime as a matter of fact, so list myself as a maintainer of it
along with Bjorn and remove the Adam's entry from it.

rbd: don't zero-fill non-image object requests
A result of ENOENT from a read request for an object that's part of
an rbd image indicates that there is a hole in that portion of the
image. Similarly, a short read for such an object indicates that
the remainder of the read should be interpreted a full read with
zeros filling out the end of the request.
This behavior is not correct for objects that are not backing rbd
image data. Currently rbd_img_obj_request_callback() assumes it
should be done for all objects.
Change rbd_img_obj_request_callback() so it only does this zeroing
for image objects. Encapsulate that special handling in its own
function. Add an assertion that the image object request is a bio
request, since we assume that (and we currently don't support any
other types).
This resolves a problem identified here:

ia64 idle: delete stale (*idle)() function pointer
Commit 3e7fc708eb41 ("ia64 idle: delete pm_idle") in 3.9-rc1 didn't
finish the job, leaving an un-initialized reference to (*idle)().
[ Haven't seen a crash from this - but seems like we are just being
lucky that "idle" is zero so it does get initialized before we jump to

Btrfs: don't drop path when printing out tree errors in scrub
A user reported a panic where we were panicing somewhere in
tree_backref_for_extent from scrub_print_warning. He only captured the trace
but looking at scrub_print_warning we drop the path right before we mess with
the extent buffer to print out a bunch of stuff, which isn't right. So fix this
by dropping the path after we use the eb if we need to. Thanks,

target: Fix RESERVATION_CONFLICT status regression for iscsi-target special case
This patch fixes a regression introduced in v3.8-rc1 code where a failed
target_check_reservation() check in target_setup_cmd_from_cdb() was causing
an incorrect SAM_STAT_GOOD status to be returned during a WRITE operation
performed by an unregistered / unreserved iscsi initiator port.
This regression is only effecting iscsi-target due to a special case check
for TCM_RESERVATION_CONFLICT within iscsi_target_erl1.c:iscsit_execute_cmd(),
and was still correctly disallowing WRITE commands from backend submission
for unregistered / unreserved initiator ports, while returning the incorrect
SAM_STAT_GOOD status due to the missing SAM_STAT_RESERVATION_CONFLICT
assignment.
Go ahead and re-add the missing SAM_STAT_RESERVATION_CONFLICT assignment
during a target_check_reservation() failure, so that iscsi-target code
sends the correct SCSI status.
All other fabrics using target_submit_cmd_*() with a RESERVATION_CONFLICT
call to transport_generic_request_failure() are not effected by this bug.

tcm_vhost: Avoid VIRTIO_RING_F_EVENT_IDX feature bit
This patch adds a VHOST_SCSI_FEATURES mask minus VIRTIO_RING_F_EVENT_IDX
so that vhost-scsi-pci userspace will strip this feature bit once
GET_FEATURES reports it as being unsupported on the host.
This is to avoid a bug where ->handle_kicks() are missed when EVENT_IDX
is enabled by default in userspace code.

Revert "mm: introduce VM_POPULATE flag to better deal with racy userspace programs"
This reverts commit 186930500985 ("mm: introduce VM_POPULATE flag to
better deal with racy userspace programs").
VM_POPULATE only has any effect when userspace plays racy games with
vmas by trying to unmap and remap memory regions that mmap or mlock are
operating on.
Also, the only effect of VM_POPULATE when userspace plays such games is
that it avoids populating new memory regions that get remapped into the
address range that was being operated on by the original mmap or mlock
calls.
Let's remove VM_POPULATE as there isn't any strong argument to mandate a
new vm_flag.

Btrfs: fix wrong return value of btrfs_lookup_csum()
If we don't find the expected csum item, but find a csum item which is
adjacent to the specified extent, we should return -EFBIG, or we should
return -ENOENT. But btrfs_lookup_csum() return -EFBIG even the csum item
is not adjacent to the specified extent. Fix it.

Btrfs: fix wrong reservation of csums
We reserve the space for csums only when we write data into a file, in
the other cases, such as tree log, log replay, we don't do reservation,
so we can use the reservation of the transaction handle just for the former.
And for the latter, we should use the tree's own reservation. But the
function - btrfs_csum_file_blocks() didn't differentiate between these
two types of the cases, fix it.

Btrfs: fix double free in the btrfs_qgroup_account_ref()
The function btrfs_find_all_roots is responsible to allocate
memory for 'roots' and free it if errors happen,so the caller should not
free it again since the work has been done.
Besides,'tmp' is allocated after the function btrfs_find_all_roots,
so we can return directly if btrfs_find_all_roots() fails.

Btrfs: limit the global reserve to 512mb
A user reported a problem where he was getting early ENOSPC with hundreds of
gigs of free data space and 6 gigs of free metadata space. This is because the
global block reserve was taking up the entire free metadata space. This is
ridiculous, we have infrastructure in place to throttle if we start using too
much of the global reserve, so instead of letting it get this huge just limit it
to 512mb so that users can still get work done. This allowed the user to
complete his rsync without issues. Thanks

Btrfs: hold the ordered operations mutex when waiting on ordered extents
We need to hold the ordered_operations mutex while waiting on ordered extents
since we splice and run the ordered extents list. We need to make sure anybody
else who wants to wait on ordered extents does actually wait for them to be
completed. This will keep us from bailing out of flushing in case somebody is
already waiting on ordered extents to complete. Thanks,

Btrfs: fix space accounting for unlink and rename
We are way over-reserving for unlink and rename. Rename is just some random
huge number and unlink accounts for tree log operations that don't actually
happen during unlink, not to mention the tree log doesn't take from the trans
block rsv anyway so it's completely useless. Thanks,

Btrfs: fix space leak when we fail to reserve metadata space
Dave reported a warning when running xfstest 275. We have been leaking delalloc
metadata space when our reservations fail. This is because we were improperly
calculating how much space to free for our checksum reservations. The problem
is we would sometimes free up space that had already been freed in another
thread and we would end up with negative usage for the delalloc space. This
patch fixes the problem by calculating how much space the other threads would
have already freed, and then calculate how much space we need to free had we not
done the reservation at all, and then freeing any excess space. This makes
xfstests 275 no longer have leaked space. Thanks

Btrfs: fix EIO from btrfs send in is_extent_unchanged for punched holes
When you take a snapshot, punch a hole where there has been data, then take
another snapshot and try to send an incremental stream, btrfs send would
give you EIO. That is because is_extent_unchanged had no support for holes
being punched. With this patch, instead of returning EIO we just return
0 (== the extent is not unchanged) and we're good.
