Btrfs: check if items are ordered when a leaf is marked dirty
To ease finding bugs during development related to modifying btree leaves
in such a way that it makes its items not sorted by key anymore. Since this
is an expensive check, it's only enabled if CONFIG_BTRFS_FS_CHECK_INTEGRITY
is set, which isn't meant to be enabled for regular users.

Btrfs: don't access non-existent key when csum tree is empty
When the csum tree is empty, our leaf (path->nodes[0]) has a number
of items equal to 0 and since btrfs_header_nritems() returns an
unsigned integer (and so is our local nritems variable) the following
comparison always evaluates to false:
So just don't access such non-existent slot and don't set found_next to 1
when the tree is empty. It's very unlikely we'll get a random key with the
objectid and type values above, which is where we could go into trouble.
If nritems is 0, just set found_next to 1 anyway as it will make us insert
a csum item covering our whole extent (or the whole leaf) when the tree is
empty.

Btrfs: make sure there are not any read requests before stopping workers
In close_ctree(), after we have stopped all workers,there maybe still
some read requests(for example readahead) to submit and this *maybe* trigger
an oops that user reported before:
kernel BUG at fs/btrfs/async-thread.c:619!
By hacking codes, i can reproduce this problem with one cpu available.
We fix this potential problem by invalidating all btree inode pages before
stopping all workers.

Btrfs: send, fix more issues related to directory renames
This is a continuation of the previous changes titled:
Btrfs: fix incremental send's decision to delay a dir move/rename
Btrfs: part 2, fix incremental send's decision to delay a dir move/rename
There's a few more cases where a directory rename/move must be delayed which was
previously overlooked. If our immediate ancestor has a lower inode number than
ours and it doesn't have a delayed rename/move operation associated to it, it
doesn't mean there isn't any non-direct ancestor of our current inode that needs
to be renamed/moved before our current inode (i.e. with a higher inode number
than ours).
So we can't stop the search if our immediate ancestor has a lower inode number than
ours, we need to navigate the directory hierarchy upwards until we hit the root or:
1) find an ancestor with an higher inode number that was renamed/moved in the send
root too (or already has a pending rename/move registered);
2) find an ancestor that is a new directory (higher inode number than ours and
exists only in the send root).
For both cases the incremental send would enter an infinite loop when building
path strings.
While solving these cases, this change also re-implements the code to detect
when directory moves/renames should be delayed. Instead of dealing with several
specific cases separately, it's now more generic handling all cases with a simple
detection algorithm and if when applying a delayed move/rename there's a path loop
detected, it further delays the move/rename registering a new ancestor inode as
the dependency inode (so our rename happens after that ancestor is renamed).
Tests for these cases is being added to xfstests too.

Btrfs: send, account for orphan directories when building path strings
If we have directories with a pending move/rename operation, we must take into
account any orphan directories that got created before executing the pending
move/rename. Those orphan directories are directories with an inode number higher
then the current send progress and that don't exist in the parent snapshot, they
are created before current progress reaches their inode number, with a generated
name of the form oN-M-I and at the root of the filesystem tree, and later when
progress matches their inode number, moved/renamed to their final location.

Btrfs: send, avoid unnecessary inode item lookup in the btree
Regardless of whether the caller is interested or not in knowing the inode's
generation (dir_gen != NULL), get_first_ref always does a btree lookup to get
the inode item. Avoid this useless lookup if dir_gen parameter is NULL (which
is in some cases).

btrfs: Add check to avoid cleanup roots already in fs_info->dead_roots.
Current btrfs_orphan_cleanup will also cleanup roots which is already in
fs_info->dead_roots without protection.
This will have conditional race with fs_info->cleaner_kthread.
This patch will use refs in root->root_item to detect roots in
dead_roots and avoid conflicts.

Btrfs: reclaim the reserved metadata space at background
Before applying this patch, the task had to reclaim the metadata space
by itself if the metadata space was not enough. And When the task started
the space reclamation, all the other tasks which wanted to reserve the
metadata space were blocked. At some cases, they would be blocked for
a long time, it made the performance fluctuate wildly.
So we introduce the background metadata space reclamation, when the space
is about to be exhausted, we insert a reclaim work into the workqueue, the
worker of the workqueue helps us to reclaim the reserved space at the
background. By this way, the tasks needn't reclaim the space by themselves at
most cases, and even if the tasks have to reclaim the space or are blocked
for the space reclamation, they will get enough space more quickly.
Here is my test result(Tested by compilebench):
Memory: 2GB
CPU: 2Cores * 1CPU
Partition: 40GB(SSD)
Test command:

Btrfs: output warning instead of error when loading free space cache failed
If we fail to load a free space cache, we can rebuild it from the extent tree,
so it is not a serious error, we should not output a error message that
would make the users uncomfortable. This patch uses warning message instead
of it.

btrfs: Add ctime/mtime update for btrfs device add/remove.
Btrfs will send uevent to udev inform the device change,
but ctime/mtime for the block device inode is not udpated, which cause
libblkid used by btrfs-progs unable to detect device change and use old
cache, causing 'btrfs dev scan; btrfs dev rmove; btrfs dev scan' give an
error message.

btrfs: protect snapshots from deleting during send
The patch "Btrfs: fix protection between send and root deletion"
(18f687d538449373c37c) does not actually prevent to delete the snapshot
and just takes care during background cleaning, but this seems rather
user unfriendly, this patch implements the idea presented in
- add an internal root_item flag to denote a dead root
- check if the send_in_progress is set and refuse to delete, otherwise
set the flag and proceed
- check the flag in send similar to the btrfs_root_readonly checks, for
all involved roots
The root lookup in send via btrfs_read_fs_root_no_name will check if the
root is really dead or not. If it is, ENOENT, aborted send. If it's
alive, it's protected by send_in_progress, send can continue.

This implements the tmpfile callback of struct inode_operations, introduced
in the linux kernel 3.11, and implemented already by some filesystems. This
callback is invoked by the VFS when the flag O_TMPFILE is passed to the open
system call.

btrfs: retrieve more info from FS_INFO ioctl
Provide the basic information about filesystem through the ioctl:
* b-tree node size (same as leaf size)
* sector size
* expected alignment of CLONE_RANGE and EXTENT_SAME ioctl arguments
Backward compatibility: if the values are 0, kernel does not provide
this information, the applications should ignore them.

btrfs: balance filter: add limit of processed chunks
This started as debugging helper, to watch the effects of converting
between raid levels on multiple devices, but could be useful standalone.
In my case the usage filter was not finegrained enough and led to
converting too many chunks at once. Another example use is in connection
with drange+devid or vrange filters that allow to work with a specific
chunk or even with a chunk on a given device.
The limit filter applies last, the value of 0 means no limiting.

Btrfs: fix leaf corruption caused by ENOSPC while hole punching
While running a stress test with multiple threads writing to the same btrfs
file system, I ended up with a situation where a leaf was corrupted in that
it had 2 file extent item keys that had the same exact key. I was able to
detect this quickly thanks to the following patch which triggers an assertion
as soon as a leaf is marked dirty if there are duplicated keys or out of order
keys:

So this is caused by getting an -ENOSPC error while punching a file hole, more
specifically, we get -ENOSPC error from __btrfs_drop_extents in the while loop
of file.c:btrfs_punch_hole() when it's unable to modify the btree to delete one
or more file extent items due to lack of enough free space. When this happens,
in btrfs_punch_hole(), we attempt to reclaim free space by switching our transaction
block reservation object to root->fs_info->trans_block_rsv, end our transaction and
start a new transaction basically - and, we keep increasing our current offset
(cur_offset) as long as it's smaller than the end of the target range (lockend) -
this makes use leave the loop with cur_offset == drop_end which in turn makes us
call fill_holes() for inserting a file extent item that represents a 0 bytes range
hole (and this insertion succeeds, as in the meanwhile more space became available).
This 0 bytes file hole extent item is a problem because any subsequent caller of
__btrfs_drop_extents (regular file writes, or fallocate calls for e.g.), with a
start file offset that is equal to the offset of the hole, will not remove this
extent item due to the following conditional in the while loop of
__btrfs_drop_extents:

This later makes the call to setup_items_for_insert() (at the very end of
__btrfs_drop_extents), insert a new file extent item with the same offset as
the 0 bytes file hole extent item that follows it. Needless is to say that this
causes chaos, either when reading the leaf from disk (btree_readpage_end_io_hook),
where we perform leaf sanity checks or in subsequent operations that manipulate
file extent items, as in the fallocate call as shown by the dmesg trace above.
Without my other patch to perform the leaf sanity checks once a leaf is marked
as dirty (if the integrity checker is enabled), it would have been much harder
to debug this issue.
This change might fix a few similar issues reported by users in the mailing
list regarding assertion failures in btrfs_set_item_key_safe calls performed
by __btrfs_drop_extents, such as the following report:
Asking fill_holes() to create a 0 bytes wide file hole item also produced the
first warning in the trace above, as we passed a range to btrfs_drop_extent_cache
that has an end smaller (by -1) than its start.
On 3.14 kernels this issue manifests itself through leaf corruption, as we get
duplicated file extent item keys in a leaf when calling setup_items_for_insert(),
but on older kernels, setup_items_for_insert() isn't called by __btrfs_drop_extents(),
instead we have callers of __btrfs_drop_extents(), namely the functions
inode.c:insert_inline_extent() and inode.c:insert_reserved_file_extent(), calling
btrfs_insert_empty_item() to insert the new file extent item, which would fail with
error -EEXIST, instead of inserting a duplicated key - which is still a serious
issue as it would make all similar file extent item replace operations keep
failing if they target the same file range.

Btrfs: read inode size after acquiring the mutex when punching a hole
In a previous change, commit 12870f1c9b2de7d475d22e73fd7db1b418599725,
I accidentally moved the roundup of inode->i_size to outside of the
critical section delimited by the inode mutex, which is not atomic and
not correct since the size can be changed by other task before we acquire
the mutex. Therefore fix it.

btrfs: fix inline compressed read err corruption
uncompress_inline() is dropping the error from btrfs_decompress() after
testing it and zeroing the page that was supposed to hold decompressed
data. This can silently turn compressed inline data in to zeros if
decompression fails due to corrupt compressed data or memory allocation
failure.
I verified this by manually forcing the error from btrfs_decompress()
for a silly named copy of od:
if (!strcmp(current->comm, "failod"))
ret = -ENOMEM;
The fix is to pass the error to its caller. Which still has a BUG_ON().
So we fix that too.
There seems to be no reason for the zeroing of the page on the error
from btrfs_decompress() but not from the allocation error a few lines
above. So the page zeroing is removed.

btrfs: return ptr error from compression workspace
The btrfs compression wrappers translated errors from workspace
allocation to either -ENOMEM or -1. The compression type workspace
allocators are already returning a ERR_PTR(-ENOMEM). Just return that
and get rid of the magical -1.
This helps a future patch return errors from the compression wrappers.

btrfs: return errno instead of -1 from compression
The compression layer seems to have been built to return -1 and have
callers make up errors that make sense. This isn't great because there
are different errors that originate down in the compression layer.
Let's return real negative errnos from the compression layer so that
callers can pass on the error without having to guess what happened.
ENOMEM for allocation failure, E2BIG when compression exceeds the
uncompressed input, and EIO for everything else.
This helps a future path return errors from btrfs_decompress().

It turns out that extent_io.c:__extent_writepage(), which ends up being called
through filemap_fdatawrite_range() in btrfs_start_ordered_extent(), was getting
-ENOSPC when calling the fill_delalloc callback. In this situation, it returned
without the writepage_end_io_hook callback (inode.c:btrfs_writepage_end_io_hook)
ever being called for the respective page, which prevents the ordered extent's
bytes_left count from ever reaching 0, and therefore a finish_ordered_fn work
is never queued into the endio_write_workers queue. This makes the task that
called btrfs_start_ordered_extent() hang forever on the wait queue of the ordered
extent.
This is fairly easy to reproduce using a small filesystem and fsstress on
a quad core vm:
So just ensure that if an error happens while writing the extent page
we call the writepage_end_io_hook callback. Also make it return the
error code and ensure the caller (extent_write_cache_pages) processes
all pages in the page vector even if an error happens only for some
of them, so that ordered extents end up released.

It came in very late, and already has one reported failure: Sitsofe
reports that the current tree fails to boot on his EeePC, and bisected
it down to this. Rather than waste time trying to figure out what's
wrong, just revert it.

x86/boot: EFI_MIXED should not prohibit loading above 4G
commit 7d453eee36ae ("x86/efi: Wire up CONFIG_EFI_MIXED") introduced a
regression for the functionality to load kernels above 4G. The relevant
(incorrect) reasoning behind this change can be seen in the commit
message,

that the kernel supports both entry points by setting both of
XLF_EFI_HANDOVER_32 and XLF_EFI_HANDOVER_64 when CONFIG_EFI_MIXED=y.
XLF_CAN_BE_LOADED_ABOVE_4G is disabled so that the kernel text is
guaranteed to be addressable with 32-bits."
This is obviously bogus since 32-bit EFI loaders will never place the
kernel above the 4G mark. So this restriction is entirely unnecessary.
But things are worse than that - since we want to encourage people to
always compile with CONFIG_EFI_MIXED=y so that their kernels work out of
the box for both 32-bit and 64-bit firmware, commit 7d453eee36ae
effectively disables XLF_CAN_BE_LOADED_ABOVE_4G completely.
Remove the overzealous and superfluous restriction and restore the
XLF_CAN_BE_LOADED_ABOVE_4G functionality.

mm: add !pte_present() check on existing hugetlb_entry callbacks
The age table walker doesn't check non-present hugetlb entry in common
path, so hugetlb_entry() callbacks must check it. The reason for this
behavior is that some callers want to handle it in its own way.
[ I think that reason is bogus, btw - it should just do what the regular
code does, which is to call the "pte_hole()" function for such hugetlb
entries - Linus]
However, some callers don't check it now, which causes unpredictable
result, for example when we have a race between migrating hugepage and
reading /proc/pid/numa_maps. This patch fixes it by adding !pte_present
checks on buggy callbacks.
This bug exists for years and got visible by introducing hugepage
migration.

If a path has more than 230 characters, we allocate a new buffer to
use for the path, but we were forgotting to copy the contents of the
previous buffer into the new one, which has random content from the
kmalloc call.

mm: rmap: fix use-after-free in __put_anon_vma
While working address sanitizer for kernel I've discovered
use-after-free bug in __put_anon_vma.
For the last anon_vma, anon_vma->root freed before child anon_vma.
Later in anon_vma_free(anon_vma) we are referencing to already freed
anon_vma->root to check rwsem.
This fixes it by freeing the child anon_vma before freeing
anon_vma->root.
results in an NULL pointer dereference when the backend device has not
yet been configured.
This patch adds an explicit check for DF_CONFIGURED, and fails with
-ENODEV to avoid this case.

target: Allow READ_CAPACITY opcode in ALUA Standby access state
This patch allows READ_CAPACITY + SAI_READ_CAPACITY_16 opcode
processing to occur while the associated ALUA group is in Standby
access state.
This is required to avoid host side LUN probe failures during the
initial scan if an ALUA group has already implicitly changed into
Standby access state.
This addresses a bug reported by Chris + Philip using dm-multipath
+ ESX hosts configured with ALUA multipath.

misunderstood your question.
You are right the check is pointless for shared futexes where the
same physical address is mapped to two different virtual addresses.
2) Sanity check atomic acquisiton in futex_lock_pi_atomic
That's basically what Darren suggested.
I just simplified it to use futex_top_waiter() to find kernel
internal state. If state is found return -EINVAL and do not bother
to fix up the user space variable. It's corrupted already.
3) Ensure state consistency in futex_unlock_pi
The code is silly versus the owner died bit. There is no point to
preserve it on unlock when the user space thread owns the futex.
What's worse is that it does not update the user space value when
the owner died bit is set. So the kernel itself creates observable
inconsistency.
Another "optimization" is to retry an atomic unlock. That's
pointless as in a sane environment user space would not call into
that code if it could have unlocked it atomically. So we always
check whether there is kernel state around and only if there is
none, we do the unlock by setting the user space value to 0.
4) Sanitize lookup_pi_state
lookup_pi_state is ambigous about TID == 0 in the user space value.
This can be a valid state even if there is kernel state on this
uaddr, but we miss a few corner case checks.
I tried to come up with a smaller solution hacking the checks into
the current cruft, but it turned out to be ugly as hell and I got
more confused than I was before. So I rewrote the sanity checks
along the state documentation with awful lots of commentry"

futex: Make lookup_pi_state more robust
The current implementation of lookup_pi_state has ambigous handling of
the TID value 0 in the user space futex. We can get into the kernel
even if the TID value is 0, because either there is a stale waiters bit
or the owner died bit is set or we are called from the requeue_pi path
or from user space just for fun.
The current code avoids an explicit sanity check for pid = 0 in case
that kernel internal state (waiters) are found for the user space
address. This can lead to state leakage and worse under some
circumstances.

futex: Always cleanup owner tid in unlock_pi
If the owner died bit is set at futex_unlock_pi, we currently do not
cleanup the user space futex. So the owner TID of the current owner
(the unlocker) persists. That's observable inconsistant state,
especially when the ownership of the pi state got transferred.
Clean it up unconditionally.

futex: Validate atomic acquisition in futex_lock_pi_atomic()
We need to protect the atomic acquisition in the kernel against rogue
user space which sets the user space futex to 0, so the kernel side
acquisition succeeds while there is existing state in the kernel
associated to the real owner.
Verify whether the futex has waiters associated with kernel state. If
it has, return -EINVAL. The state is corrupted already, so no point in
cleaning it up. Subsequent calls will fail as well. Not our problem.
[ tglx: Use futex_top_waiter() and explain why we do not need to try
restoring the already corrupted user space state. ]

If uaddr == uaddr2, then we have broken the rule of only requeueing from
a non-pi futex to a pi futex with this call. If we attempt this, then
dangling pointers may be left for rt_waiter resulting in an exploitable
condition.
This change brings futex_requeue() in line with futex_wait_requeue_pi()
which performs the same check as per commit 6f7b0a2a5c0f ("futex: Forbid
uaddr == uaddr2 in futex_wait_requeue_pi()")

x86/smpboot: Initialize secondary CPU only if master CPU will wait for it
Hang is observed on virtual machines during CPU hotplug,
especially in big guests with many CPUs. (It reproducible
more often if host is over-committed).
It happens because master CPU gives up waiting on
secondary CPU and allows it to run wild. As result
AP causes locking or crashing system. For example
as described here:

If master CPU have sent STARTUP IPI successfully,
and AP signalled to master CPU that it's ready
to start initialization, make master CPU wait
indefinitely till AP is onlined.
To ensure that AP won't ever run wild, make it
wait at early startup till master CPU confirms its
intention to wait for AP. If AP doesn't respond in 10
seconds, the master CPU will timeout and cancel
AP onlining.

x86: Fix list/memory corruption on CPU hotplug
currently if AP wake up is failed, master CPU marks AP as not
present in do_boot_cpu() by calling set_cpu_present(cpu, false).
That leads to following list corruption on the next physical CPU
hotplug:
which returns id of previously failed to wake up CPU, since its
bit is cleared by do_boot_cpu() and as result register_cpu()
tries to register another CPU with the same id as already
present but failed to be onlined CPU.
Taking in account that AP will not do anything if master CPU
failed to wake it up, there is no reason to mark that AP as not
present and break next cpu hotplug attempts. As a side effect of
not marking AP as not present, user would be allowed to online
it again later.
Also fix memory corruption in acpi_unmap_lsapic()
if during CPU hotplug master CPU failed to wake up AP
it set percpu x86_cpu_to_apicid to BAD_APICID=0xFFFF for AP.
However following attempt to unplug that CPU will lead to
out of bound write access to __apicid_to_node[] which is
32768 items long on x86_64 kernel.
So with above fix of cpu_present_mask make sure that a present
CPU has a valid APIC ID by not setting x86_cpu_to_apicid
to BAD_APICID in do_boot_cpu() on failure and allow
acpi_processor_remove()->acpi_unmap_lsapic() cleanly remove CPU.

sched/fair: Fix tg_set_cfs_bandwidth() deadlock on rq->lock
tg_set_cfs_bandwidth() sets cfs_b->timer_active to 0 to
force the period timer restart. It's not safe, because
can lead to deadlock, described in commit 927b54fccbf0:
"__start_cfs_bandwidth calls hrtimer_cancel while holding rq->lock,
waiting for the hrtimer to finish. However, if sched_cfs_period_timer
runs for another loop iteration, the hrtimer can attempt to take
rq->lock, resulting in deadlock."
Three CPUs must be involved:
CPU0 CPU1 CPU2
take rq->lock period timer fired
... take cfs_b lock
... ... tg_set_cfs_bandwidth()
throttle_cfs_rq() release cfs_b lock take cfs_b lock

So, CPU0 and CPU1 are deadlocked.
Instead of resetting cfs_b->timer_active, tg_set_cfs_bandwidth can
wait for period timer callbacks (ignoring cfs_b->timer_active) and
restart the timer explicitly.

sched/dl: Fix race in dl_task_timer()
Throttled task is still on rq, and it may be moved to other cpu
if user is playing with sched_setaffinity(). Therefore, unlocked
task_rq() access makes the race.
Juri Lelli reports he got this race when dl_bandwidth_enabled()
was not set.
Other thing, pointed by Peter Zijlstra:
"Now I suppose the problem can still actually happen when
you change the root domain and trigger a effective affinity
change that way".
To fix that we do the same as made in __task_rq_lock(). We do not
use __task_rq_lock() itself, because it has a useful lockdep check,
which is not correct in case of dl_task_timer(). We do not need
pi_lock locked here. This case is an exception (PeterZ):
"The only reason we don't strictly need ->pi_lock now is because
we're guaranteed to have p->state == TASK_RUNNING here and are
thus free of ttwu races".
Which means that task_numa_free() can be called with interrupts
disabled, which means that we should not be using spin_lock_irq() but
spin_lock_irqsave() instead. Otherwise we are enabling interrupts while
holding an interrupt unsafe lock!

The problem is that percpu_ref_*() used __this_cpu_*() instead of
this_cpu_*(). The difference between the two is that the latter is
atomic on the local cpu while the former is not. this_cpu_inc() is
guaranteed to increment the percpu counter on the cpu that the
operation is executed on without any synchronization; however,
__this_cpu_inc() doesn't and if the local cpu invokes the function
from different contexts (e.g. process and irq) of the same CPU, it's
not guaranteed to actually increment as it may be implemented as rmw.
This bug existed from the get-go but it hasn't been noticed earlier
probably because on x86 __this_cpu_inc() is equivalent to
this_cpu_inc() as both get translated into single instruction;
however, s390 uses the generic rmw implementation and gets affected by
the bug. Kudos to Sebastian and Heiko for diagnosing it.
The change is very low risk and fixes a critical issue on the affected
architectures, so I think it's a good candidate for inclusion although
it's very late in the devel cycle. On the other hand, this has been
broken since v3.11, so backporting it through -stable post -rc1 won't
be the end of the world.
I'll ping Christoph whether __this_cpu_*() ops can be better annotated
so that it can trigger lockdep warning when used from multiple
contexts"

percpu-refcount: fix usage of this_cpu_ops
The percpu-refcount infrastructure uses the underscore variants of
this_cpu_ops in order to modify percpu reference counters.
(e.g. __this_cpu_inc()).
However the underscore variants do not atomically update the percpu
variable, instead they may be implemented using read-modify-write
semantics (more than one instruction). Therefore it is only safe to
use the underscore variant if the context is always the same (process,
softirq, or hardirq). Otherwise it is possible to lose updates.
This problem is something that Sebastian has seen within the aio
subsystem which uses percpu refcounters both in process and softirq
context leading to reference counts that never dropped to zeroes; even
though the number of "get" and "put" calls matched.
Fix this by using the non-underscore this_cpu_ops variant which
provides correct per cpu atomic semantics and fixes the corrupted
reference counts.

perf probe: Fix perf probe to find correct variable DIE
Fix perf probe to find correct variable DIE which has location or
external instance by tracking down the lexical blocks.
Current die_find_variable() expects that the all variable DIEs
which has DW_TAG_variable have a location. However, since recent
dwarf information may have declaration variable DIEs at the
entry of function (subprogram), die_find_variable() returns it.
To solve this problem, it must track down the DIE tree to find
a DIE which has an actual location or a reference for external
instance.

perf probe: Fix a segfault if asked for variable it doesn't find
Fix a segfault bug by asking for variable it doesn't find.
Since the convert_variable() didn't handle error code returned
from convert_variable_location(), it just passed an incomplete
variable field and then a segfault was occurred when formatting
the field.
This fixes that bug by handling success code correctly in
convert_variable(). Other callers of convert_variable_location()
are correctly checking the return code.
This bug was introduced by following commit. But another hidden
erroneous error handling has been there previously (-ENOMEM case).

x86: irq: Get correct available vectors for cpu disable
check_irq_vectors_for_cpu_disable() can overestimate the number of
available interrupt vectors, so the check for cpu down succeeds, but
the actual cpu removal fails.
It iterates from FIRST_EXTERNAL_VECTOR to NR_VECTORS, which is wrong
because the systems vectors are not taken into account.
Limit the search to first_system_vector instead of NR_VECTORS.
The second indicator for vector availability the used_vectors bitmap
is not taken into account at all. So system vectors,
e.g. IA32_SYSCALL_VECTOR (0x80) and IRQ_MOVE_CLEANUP_VECTOR (0x20),
are accounted as available.
Add a check for the used_vectors bitmap and do not account vectors
which are marked there.

where the change to set iscsi_np->enabled = false within
iscsit_clear_tpg_np_login_thread() meant that a iscsi_np with
two iscsi_tpg_np exports would have it's parent iscsi_np set
to a disabled state, even if other iscsi_tpg_np exports still
existed.
This patch changes iscsit_clear_tpg_np_login_thread() to only
set iscsi_np->enabled = false when shutdown = true, and also
changes iscsit_del_np() to set iscsi_np->enabled = true when
iscsi_np->np_exports is non zero.

iscsi-target: Fix wrong buffer / buffer overrun in iscsi_change_param_value()
In non-leading connection login, iscsi_login_non_zero_tsih_s1() calls
iscsi_change_param_value() with the buffer it uses to hold the login
PDU, not a temporary buffer. This leads to the login header getting
corrupted and login failing for non-leading connections in MC/S.
Fix this by adding a wrapper iscsi_change_param_sprintf() that handles
the temporary buffer itself to avoid confusion. Also handle sending a
reject in case of failure in the wrapper, which lets the calling code
get quite a bit smaller and easier to read.
Finally, bump the size of the temporary buffer from 32 to 64 bytes to be
safe, since "MaxRecvDataSegmentLength=" by itself is 25 bytes; with a
trailing NUL, a value >= 1M will lead to a buffer overrun. (This isn't
the default but we don't need to run right at the ragged edge here)

iser-target: Add missing target_put_sess_cmd for ImmedateData failure
This patch addresses a bug where an early exception for SCSI WRITE
with ImmediateData=Yes was missing the target_put_sess_cmd() call
to drop the extra se_cmd->cmd_kref reference obtained during the
normal iscsit_setup_scsi_cmd() codepath execution.
This bug was manifesting itself during session shutdown within
isert_cq_rx_comp_err() where target_wait_for_sess_cmds() would
end up waiting indefinately for the last se_cmd->cmd_kref put to
occur for the failed SCSI WRITE + ImmediateData descriptors.
This fix follows what traditional iscsi-target code already does
for the same failure case within iscsit_get_immediate_data().

net: filter: fix possible memory leak in __sk_prepare_filter()
__sk_prepare_filter() was reworked in commit bd4cf0ed3 (net: filter:
rework/optimize internal BPF interpreter's instruction set) so that it should
have uncharged memory once things went wrong. However that work isn't complete.
Error is handled only in __sk_migrate_filter() while memory can still leak in
the error path right after sk_chk_filter().

The ec_bhf driver is specific to the Beckhoff CX embedded PC series.
These are based on Intel x86 CPU. So we can add a dependency on
X86, with COMPILE_TEST as an alternative to still allow for broader

Queued trim only works for some users with MU05 firmware. Revert to
blacklisting all firmware versions.
Introduced by commit d121f7d0cbb8 ("libata: Update queued trim blacklist
for M5x0 drives") which this effectively reverts, while retaining the
blacklisting of M550.

tcp: fix cwnd undo on DSACK in F-RTO
This bug is discovered by an recent F-RTO issue on tcpm list
https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/tcpm/current/msg08794.html
The bug is that currently F-RTO does not use DSACK to undo cwnd in
certain cases: upon receiving an ACK after the RTO retransmission in
F-RTO, and the ACK has DSACK indicating the retransmission is spurious,
the sender only calls tcp_try_undo_loss() if some never retransmisted
data is sacked (FLAG_ORIG_DATA_SACKED).
The correct behavior is to unconditionally call tcp_try_undo_loss so
the DSACK information is used properly to undo the cwnd reduction.

netlink: Only check file credentials for implicit destinations
It was possible to get a setuid root or setcap executable to write to
it's stdout or stderr (which has been set made a netlink socket) and
inadvertently reconfigure the networking stack.
To prevent this we check that both the creator of the socket and
the currentl applications has permission to reconfigure the network
stack.
Unfortunately this breaks Zebra which always uses sendto/sendmsg
and creates it's socket without any privileges.
To keep Zebra working don't bother checking if the creator of the
socket has privilege when a destination address is specified. Instead
rely exclusively on the privileges of the sender of the socket.
Note from Andy: This is exactly Eric's code except for some comment
clarifications and formatting fixes. Neither I nor, I think, anyone
else is thrilled with this approach, but I'm hesitant to wait on a
better fix since 3.15 is almost here.
Note to stable maintainers: This is a mess. An earlier series of
patches in 3.15 fix a rather serious security issue (CVE-2014-0181),
but they did so in a way that breaks Zebra. The offending series
includes:
net: Add variants of capable for use on netlink messages
If a given kernel version is missing that series of fixes, it's
probably worth backporting it and this patch. if that series is
present, then this fix is critical if you care about Zebra.

ipheth: Add support for iPad 2 and iPad 3
Each iPad model has a different product id, this patch adds support for iPad 2
(pid 0x12a2) and iPad 3 (pid 0x12a6). Note that iPad 2 must be jailbroken and a
third-party app must be used for tethering to work. On iPad 3, tethering works
out of the box (assuming your ISP is nice).

team: fix mtu setting
Now it is not possible to set mtu to team device which has a port
enslaved to it. The reason is that when team_change_mtu() calls
dev_set_mtu() for port device, notificator for NETDEV_PRECHANGEMTU
event is called and team_device_event() returns NOTIFY_BAD forbidding
the change. So fix this by returning NOTIFY_DONE here in case team is
changing mtu in team_change_mtu().

bridge: Prevent insertion of FDB entry with disallowed vlan
br_handle_local_finish() is allowing us to insert an FDB entry with
disallowed vlan. For example, when port 1 and 2 are communicating in
vlan 10, and even if vlan 10 is disallowed on port 3, port 3 can
interfere with their communication by spoofed src mac address with
vlan id 10.
Note: Even if it is judged that a frame should not be learned, it should
not be dropped because it is destined for not forwarding layer but higher
layer. See IEEE 802.1Q-2011 8.13.10.

x86/efi: Do not export efi runtime map in case old map
For ioremapped efi memory aka old_map the virt addresses are not persistant
across kexec reboot. kexec-tools will read the runtime maps from sysfs then
pass them to 2nd kernel and assuming kexec efi boot is ok. This will cause
kexec boot failure.
To address this issue do not export runtime maps in case efi old_map so
userspace can use no efi boot instead.

intel_pstate: add sample time scaling
The PID assumes that samples are of equal time, which for a deferable
timers this is not true when the system goes idle. This causes the
PID to take a long time to converge to the min P state and depending
on the pattern of the idle load can make the P state appear stuck.
The hold-off value of three sample times before using the scaling is
to give a grace period for applications that have high performance
requirements and spend a lot of time idle, The poster child for this
behavior is the ffmpeg benchmark in the Phoronix test suite.

intel_pstate: Correct rounding in busy calculation
Changing to fixed point math throughout the busy calculation in
commit e66c1768 (Change busy calculation to use fixed point
math.) Introduced some inaccuracies by rounding the busy value at two
points in the calculation. This change removes roundings and moves
the rounding to the output of the PID where the calculations are
complete and the value returned as an integer.

intel_pstate: Remove C0 tracking
Commit fcb6a15c (intel_pstate: Take core C0 time into account for core
busy calculation) introduced a regression referenced below. The issue
with "lockup" after suspend that this commit was addressing is now dealt
with in the suspend path.
