Btrfs: allow for resuming restriper after it was paused
Recognize BTRFS_BALANCE_RESUME flag passed from userspace. We use the
same heuristics used when recovering balance after a crash to try to
start where we left off last time.

Implement an ioctl for canceling restriper. Currently we wait until
relocation of the current block group is finished, in future this can be
done by triggering a commit. Balance item is deleted and no memory
about the interrupted balance is kept.

Btrfs: allow for pausing restriper
Implement an ioctl for pausing restriper. This pauses the relocation,
but balance is still considered to be "in progress": balance item is
not deleted, other volume operations cannot be started, etc. If paused
in the middle of profile changing operation we will continue making
allocations with the target profile.
Add a hook to close_ctree() to pause restriper and free its data
structures on unmount. (It's safe to unmount when restriper is in
"paused" state, we will resume with the same parameters on the next
mount)

Btrfs: add skip_balance mount option
Since restriper kthread starts involuntarily on mount and can suck cpu
and memory bandwidth add a mount option to forcefully skip it. The
restriper in that case hangs around in paused state and can be resumed
from userspace when it's convenient.

Btrfs: recover balance on mount
On mount, if balance item is found, resume balance in a separate
kernel thread.
Try to be smart to continue roughly where previous balance (or convert)
was interrupted. For chunk types that were being converted to some
profile we turn on soft convert, in case of a simple balance we turn on
usage filter and relocate only less-than-90%-full chunks of that type.
These are just heuristics but they help quite a bit, and can be improved
in future.

Btrfs: save balance parameters to disk
Introduce a new btree objectid for storing balance item. The reason is
to be able to resume restriper after a crash with the same parameters.
Balance item has a very high objectid and goes into tree of tree roots.
When doing convert from one profile to another if soft mode is on
restriper won't touch chunks that already have the profile we are
converting to. This is useful if e.g. half of the FS was converted
earlier.
The soft mode switch is (like every other filter) per-type. This means
that we can convert for example meta chunks the "hard" way while
converting data chunks selectively with soft switch.

Btrfs: implement online profile changing
Profile changing is done by launching a balance with
BTRFS_BALANCE_CONVERT bits set and target fields of respective
btrfs_balance_args structs initialized. Profile reducing code in this
case will pick restriper's target profile if it's available instead of
doing a blind reduce. If target profile is not yet available it goes
back to a plain reduce.

Every caller of do_chunk_alloc() feeds it the reduced allocation
profile, so stop trying to reduce it one more time. Instead check the

Btrfs: add basic infrastructure for selective balancing
This allows to have a separate set of filters for each chunk type
(data,meta,sys). The code however is generic and switch on chunk type
is only done once.
This commit also adds a type filter: it allows to balance for example
meta and system chunks w/o touching data ones.

Btrfs: make avail_*_alloc_bits fields dynamic
Currently when new chunks are created respective avail_alloc_bits field
is updated to reflect profiles of all chunks present in the system.
However when chunks are removed profile bits are never cleared.
This patch clears profile bit of respective avail_alloc_bits field when
the last chunk with that profile is removed. Restriper needs this to
properly operate when "downgrading".

Btrfs: add BTRFS_AVAIL_ALLOC_BIT_SINGLE bit
Right now on-disk BTRFS_BLOCK_GROUP_* profile bits are used for
avail_{data,metadata,system}_alloc_bits fields, which gather info about
available allocation profiles in the FS. When chunk is created or read
from disk, its profile is OR'ed with the corresponding avail_alloc_bits
field. Since SINGLE is denoted by 0 in the on-disk format, currently
there is no way to tell when such chunks become avaialble. Restriper
needs that information, so add a separate bit for SINGLE profile.
This bit is going to be in-memory only, it should never be written out
to disk, so it's not a disk format change. However to avoid remappings
in future, reserve corresponding on-disk bit.

random: Adjust the number of loops when initializing
When we are initializing using arch_get_random_long() we only need to
loop enough times to touch all the bytes in the buffer; using
poolwords for that does twice the number of operations necessary on a
64-bit machine, since in the random number generator code "word" means
32 bits.

random: Use arch-specific RNG to initialize the entropy store
If there is an architecture-specific random number generator (such as
RDRAND for Intel architectures), use it to initialize /dev/random's
entropy stores. Even in the worst case, if RDRAND is something like
AES(NSA_KEY, counter++), it won't hurt, and it will definitely help
against any other adversaries.

ALSA: virtuoso: Xonar DS: fix polarity of front output
The two DACs for the front output and the surround/center/LFE/back
outputs are wired up out of phase, so when channels are duplicated,
their sound can cancel out each other and result in a weaker bass
response. To fix this, reverse the polarity of the neutron flow to
the front output.

We have some problems related to selection of empty queues
that need to be resolved, evidence so far points to the
recursive merge logic making either being the cause or at
least the accelerator for this. So revert it for now, until
we figure this out.

kbuild: Fix compiler warning with assertion when calling 'fwrite'
Reinhard Tartler discovered a corner case of calling xfwrite() where the
length of the string is zero.
Arnaud Lacombe suggested to use assertion for the corner case, as
fwrite(3) is currently used:
1) in comment printers. Empty comment are not allowed.
2) in a callback passed to expr_print(), where the string printed is
either NULL OR non-empty.
3) in the lexer, auto-generated, and unused.
I feel using assertion is a good solution:
1) It cleanly takes care of the above-mentioned corner case.
2) It can be easily disabled by defining NDEBUG.
3) It asserts xfwrite() is simply a wrapper for fwrite().

block: fail SCSI passthrough ioctls on partition devices
Linux allows executing the SG_IO ioctl on a partition or LVM volume, and
will pass the command to the underlying block device. This is
well-known, but it is also a large security problem when (via Unix
permissions, ACLs, SELinux or a combination thereof) a program or user
needs to be granted access only to part of the disk.
This patch lets partitions forward a small set of harmless ioctls;
others are logged with printk so that we can see which ioctls are
actually sent. In my tests only CDROM_GET_CAPABILITY actually occurred.
Of course it was being sent to a (partition on a) hard disk, so it would
have failed with ENOTTY and the patch isn't changing anything in
practice. Still, I'm treating it specially to avoid spamming the logs.
In principle, this restriction should include programs running with
CAP_SYS_RAWIO. If for example I let a program access /dev/sda2 and
/dev/sdb, it still should not be able to read/write outside the
boundaries of /dev/sda2 independent of the capabilities. However, for
now programs with CAP_SYS_RAWIO will still be allowed to send the
ioctls. Their actions will still be logged.
This patch does not affect the non-libata IDE driver. That driver
however already tests for bd != bd->bd_contains before issuing some
ioctl; it could be restricted further to forbid these ioctls even for
programs running with CAP_SYS_ADMIN/CAP_SYS_RAWIO.

scripts/coccinelle: improve the coverage of some semantic patches
This patch ensures that all semantic patches in the scripts/coccinelle
directory provide the report option. Report messages that include line
numbers now have the line number preceded by "line" for easier subsequent
processing.

Kbuild: Use dtc's -d (dependency) option
This hooks dtc into Kbuild's dependency system.
Thus, for example, "make dtbs" will rebuild tegra-harmony.dtb if only
tegra20.dtsi has changed yet tegra-harmony.dts has not. The previous
lack of this feature recently caused me to have very confusing "git
bisect" results.
For ARM, it's obvious what to add to $(targets). I'm not familiar enough
with other architectures to know what to add there. Powerpc appears to
already add various .dtb files into $(targets), but the other archs may
need something added to $(targets) to work.

merge_config.sh: fix bug in final check
Arnaud Lacombe pointed out the final checking that the requested configs
were included in the final .config was broken.
The example was that if you had a fragment that disabled
CONFIG_DECOMPRESS_GZIP applied to a normal defconfig, there would be no
final warning that CONFIG_DECOMPRESS_GZIP was acutally set in the final
.config.
This bug was introduced by me in v3 of the original patch, and the
following patch reverts the invalid change.

merge_config.sh: use signal names compatible with dash and bash
The SIGHUP SIGINT and SIGTERM names caused failures when running
merge_config.sh with the dash shell. Dropping the "SIG" component makes
the script work in both bash and dash.

kconfig: add merge_config.sh script
After noticing almost every distro has their own method of managing config
fragments, I went looking at some best practices, and wanted to try to
consolidate some of the different approaches so this fairly simple
infrastructure can be shared (and new distros/build systems don't have to
implement yet another config fragment merge script).
This script is most influenced by the Windriver tools used in the Yocto
Project, reusing some portions found there.
This script merges multiple config fragments, warning on any overridden
values. It then sets any unspecified values to their default, then
finally checks to make sure no specified value was dropped due to
unsatisfied dependencies.
I'm sure this implementation won't work for everyone, and I expect it will
need to evolve to adapt for various use cases. But I think its a
reasonable starting point.

The existing gpio_to_irq() implementation on sa1100 only translates
validly for internal GPIOs. Since this sub-arch enables GPIOLIB
support, this results in buggy translations for non-internal GPIOs.
Get rid of the private gpio_to_irq() implementation, replacing it
with the .to_irq method in the sa1100 gpio chip instead.

Unused iocbs in a batch should not be accounted as active.
Since commit 080d676de095 ("aio: allocate kiocbs in batches") iocbs are
allocated in a batch during processing of first iocbs. All iocbs in a
batch are automatically added to ctx->active_reqs list and accounted in
ctx->reqs_active.
If one (not the last one) of iocbs submitted by an user fails, further
iocbs are not processed, but they are still present in ctx->active_reqs
and accounted in ctx->reqs_active. This causes process to stuck in a D
state in wait_for_all_aios() on exit since ctx->reqs_active will never
go down to zero. Furthermore since kiocb_batch_free() frees iocb
without removing it from active_reqs list the list become corrupted
which may cause oops.
Fix this by removing iocb from ctx->active_reqs and updating
ctx->reqs_active in kiocb_batch_free().

x86/mce: Fix CPU hotplug and suspend regression related to MCE
Commit 8a25a2fd126c ("cpu: convert 'cpu' and 'machinecheck' sysdev_class
to a regular subsystem") changed how things are dealt with in the MCE
subsystem. Some of the things that got broken due to this are CPU
hotplug and suspend/hibernate.
MCE uses per_cpu allocations of struct device. So, when a CPU goes
offline and comes back online, in order to ensure that we start from a
clean slate with respect to the MCE subsystem, zero out the entire
per_cpu device structure to 0 before using it.

PM / Hibernate: Drop the check of swap space size for compressed image
For compressed image, the space required is not known until
we finish compressing and writing all pages.
This patch drops the check, and if swap space is not enough
finally, system can still restore to normal after writing
swap fails for compressed images.

PM / Domains: Skip governor functions for CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME unset
The governor functions in drivers/base/power/domain_governor.c
are only used if CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set and they refer to data
structures that are only present in that case. For this reason,
they shouldn't be compiled at all when CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is not set.

Some callback functions defined in drivers/base/power/domain.c are
only necessary if CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is set and they call some other
functions that are only available in that case. For this reason,
they should not be compiled at all when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is not set.

After commit 1eb208aea3179dd2fc0cdeea45ef869d75b4fe70, "PM: Make
CONFIG_PM depend on (CONFIG_PM_SLEEP || CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME)", the
files under kernel/power are not built unless CONFIG_PM_SLEEP or
CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set. In particular, this causes
kernel/power/poweroff.c to be omitted, even though it should be
compiled, because CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ is set.
Fix the problem by causing kernel/power/Makefile to be processed
for CONFIG_PM unset too.

kconfig/streamline-config.pl: Fix parsing Makefile with variables
Thomas Lange reported that when he did a 'make localmodconfig', his
config was missing the brcmsmac driver, even though he had the module
loaded.
Looking into this, I found the file:
drivers/net/wireless/brcm80211/brcmsmac/Makefile
had the following in the Makefile:
MODULEPFX := brcmsmac
obj-$(CONFIG_BRCMSMAC) += $(MODULEPFX).o
The way streamline-config.pl works, is parsing all the
obj-$(CONFIG_FOO) += foo.o
lines to find that CONFIG_FOO belongs to the module foo.ko.
But in this case, the brcmsmac.o was not used, but a variable in its place.
By changing streamline-config.pl to remember defined variables in Makefiles
and substituting them when they are used in the obj-X lines, allows
Thomas (and others) to have their brcmsmac module stay configured
when it is loaded and running "make localmodconfig".

This wrapper isn't overly useful, not to say rather confusing.
Around the call to xfs_itruncate_extents it does:
- add tracing
- add a few asserts in debug builds
- conditionally update the inode size in two places
- log the inode
Both the tracing and the inode logging can be moved to xfs_itruncate_extents
as they are useful for the attribute fork as well - in fact the attr code
already does an equivalent xfs_trans_log_inode call just after calling
xfs_itruncate_extents. The conditional size updates are a mess, and there
was no reason to do them in two places anyway, as the first one was
conditional on the inode having extents - but without extents we
xfs_itruncate_extents would be a no-op and the placement wouldn't matter
anyway. Instead move the size assignments and the asserts that make sense
to the callers that want it.
As a side effect of this clean up xfs_setattr_size by introducing variables
for the old and new inode size, and moving the size updates into a common
place.
